Innovation Days provide you with an opportunity to discover some of the key community wellbeing initiatives taking place with the Active Communities programme. Led by The Active Wellbeing Society, Active Communities aims to create innovative solutions to make it easier for people to access social and physical activity.
Active Communities is one of 12 national pilots supported by Sport England through the National Lottery funding, with the aim of bringing communities across Birmingham and Solihull together through social and physical activity.
Innovation days have been tailor made to share key learnings we are finding from delivering community-based projects aimed at engaging the least heard. You will get to see some of these projects in action as well as hear from some of the communities and staff who have been delivering on the ground. They will share the learnings they have gained through testing new ways of working and some of the common challenges.
The day is aimed at people who may be planning or delivering work similar in nature to the work that we are doing. It gives you an opportunity to see what community level wellbeing initiatives in deprived communities look like in practice. We will also be showcasing our approach to community engagement, providing examples of techniques and practices that they might want to find out more about.
The day will start at the office with a brief overview of the Active Communities programme. We will then take delegates to visit the sub region to see projects and initiatives, introducing key concepts in practice.
These concepts include:
• Active Communities vision and values
• Programme overview and methodology
• Theory u – definition and background information
• Our behaviour change model- background information provided
• The local delivery pilot: Active Communities – overview and main learning summary provided
Lunch will be provided at one of our cafes. Our Community cafes provide tasty meals made from good surplus food that would otherwise end up in landfill.
Innovation days are free to attend. RSVP or find out more by emailing email@example.com
