We’re happy to announce that the Share Shed Totnes (in Devon, UK), will be opening its doors on Saturday 8th April!
Come to join local MP Sarah Wollaston, Totnes Deputy Mayor Rosie Adam, wonderful poet Matt Harvey, and the Network of Wellbeing (NOW) team at this exciting occasion! Those at the launch will be warmly welcomed and invited to sign up to become Share Shed member, enabling you to start to borrow many wonderful and useful items (to become a member straight away, please bring a form of ID, a proof of address, and a contribution between £1 and £10 to the launch event).
What is the Share Shed?
The Share Shed is a library of things, where instead of books people can borrow all sorts of useful things ranging from ladders, drills, carpet cleaner, camping and gardening equipment, party things, sewing machines, and more!
The project will enable local people to borrow these items at nominal cost so that they don’t have to buy them for themselves. The aim is to build a more resourceful community, allowing people to connect with each other and share things they may need just once in a while, which also reduces our impact on Earth’s precious resources.
How did Share Shed start in Totnes?
This a project NOW has been working on coordinating for over a year. It is moving forward thanks to the support of some wonderful volunteers, a grant from the Big Lottery, the premises kindly offered by Totnes Town Council, and many donations given by community members. We are so pleased to be working together with many others in the community on this, and we are very grateful for all of the amazing support Share Shed Totnes has received to help get ready for the official launch!
Join us at the launch – 8th April!
We are excited to invite you to join the launch of Share Shed Totnes at 10am on Saturday 8th April, at the Guild Hall Garage, on Guild Hall Yard (down the side of St. Mary’s Church, Fore Street) in Totnes.
We will be joined at the launch by Totnes Deputy Mayor Rosie Adams and MP Sarah Wollaston, who will be doing the honours of officially launching the project. Plus the wonderful poet Matt Harvey will be there too! It promises to be a great event!
And remember: In order to become a member straight away, please bring a form of ID, a proof of address, and a contribution between £1 and £10. Following the launch, Share Shed Totnes will then be open every Saturday, from 10am to 1pm.
