A series of events run by Eden Project Communities and the Network of Wellbeing, with a range of inspiring speakers, exploring how small steps to connect with nature can make a big difference – for our own wellbeing, the wellbeing of our communities and the wider world around us.

Being outside is good for us. We do not need to go anywhere far away or exotic to connect with the beauty of nature and the great outdoors; it can be as simple as being in your local park, appreciating your favourite tree or having your hands in the soil.

During these unique and challenging times, we have an even greater need for connection. How can we connect with each other and with nature to support our health and wellbeing in this context? How can we ensure wider access to nature so that no matter where you live, everyone can reap the wellbeing benefits? And how can we come together in community outside; to find new ways to care for ourselves, each other and the natural world?

This series of three events ran fortnightly on Tuesday evenings from 16th February, as follows:

Access to Nature and Wellbeing for All

Access to nature should not be seen as a luxury; getting outside is vital for everyone’s wellbeing. This event will explore how we can ensure wider access to nature so that no matter where people live, everyone can reap the wellbeing benefits.

At the series launch we heard from well-known environmental campaigner Tony Juniper, Sophie Forge Senior Campaigns Manager at Semble, Rhiane Fatinikun of Black Girls Hike and Groundwork CEO Graham Duxbury. You can now watch the recording of the launch event below.

The Nature of Connection: How Being Outdoors Supports Community Wellbeing

During these times of social distancing we have an even greater need to be connected in our communities, and one of the best ways to do this is through getting outside together.

On Tuesday 2nd March, the second event in this series featured a rich discussion and presentations from Karen Creavin of The Active Wellbeing Society, Adam Murray of The Old Library Wood and RSPB, and Al Tempest of The Woodland Presents.
